Editing Journal

The first stage to editing my footage is learning how to use the software needed to construct a music video. I have used Adobe Premier to create my rough first draft edit of my video and spent an hour with my teacher learning to cut my video clips, how to place them together and time them with the music so the visuals match the sounds. The most useful tool I have used on this software is the razor tool to cut your video clip into smaller parts. This later came in useful when placing specific parts of clips over my master shot to create more interesting visuals.
It took me a long time to get started with my editing as the software is different to the one we used for our AS Media Studies Coursework where we focused our editing on Final Cut Pro. Adobe Premier has been, to me personally, much easier to use as I found everything I needed for editing my video clips and constructing my music video in one place that I could get to easily. Overall, Adobe Premier has helped me to edit my video in a much more time efficient fashion as the layout is easy and simple with a bar beneath the timeline bar that allows you to zoom in on your clips to match the visuals perfectly with the sound, and zoom out to grab and drag video clips from one end of the timeline to the other easily, and fill any gaps between shots that should not be there.
