Features and Conventions of Magazine Advertisements

Magazine advertisements are extremely important in an artist's journey from being unknown to establishing an image and product that sells. These advertisements must be eye-catching and gain the attention of new audiences who may not have heard of the band before. They work to promote the artist and sell the song to the target audience through a different medium, whether it be a music magazine or a national newspaperA successful magazine advertisement, as part of an artist's publicity package, will always contain the release date of the album so that fans know when the album is available to purchase instore or digitally. The advertisement will also utilise the title of the debut single. It will have an image of the album cover so the audience will be able to easily recognise the new album as well as promoting the band's style. The artist's name is of course included to make them accessible to a newer audience, aided by information on the new album that will be included in the advertisement for those wishing to make purchases. Not sure how effective this sentence is. How is the artist name used? Prominently in the advertisement? Who does it attract? Think about the font used too: if it is an existing artist, perhaps they use the same font or distinct spelling (like P!NK) so their brand is distinguishable. The date and location of availability in order to make purchases will be included, and finally the record label logo to show who the artist has signed with and to further promote them.
